School Common – new benches and new trees

Last year, Warlingham Parish Council arranged for the seven benches on School Common to be refurbished and more generous bases installed. This year, the Parish Council decided it would make further improvements and install three additional benches in a joint arrangement with Tandridge District Council (TDC).

One new bench has been placed at the side of the Common adjacent to Westhall Road, with the other two going in alongside the path which runs across the middle.

At the same time, again in conjunction with TDC, 18 trees were planted alongside the central path, taking care to ensure that there would still be sufficient space to play football or other games on either side of the planting. The next step is to install waste bins near to each new bench. Once the trees come into leaf the centre of School Common will be even more attractive and a place to perhaps pause and relax.

We thank TDC for their support with these environment enhancements and hope that you agree that this has improved the Common’s appearance, somewhere to be enjoyed by all of the community.
