12 local people recently attended a LANTRA Basic Tree Inspection day at All Saints Church. The grounds containing 200 trees provided the practical part of the day attended by people from the Horticultural Society, Churchyard volunteers, parish council representatives and our emerging Forest school.
This was a first for the course to be held locally, and thanks are due to Warlingham Parish Council for getting it off the ground and to everyone who came. This means 12 local people have a qualification in basic tree inspection, quality assured knowledge, and can help our hard-pressed local tree officers as well as providing basic support to gardeners.
Thanks to Blanchmans Farm Nature Reserve volunteers for recommending the tutor, Nigel Fagg and his course which was outstandingly good. Watch this space for more developments, including establishing a Tree Warden group [part of the Surrey network] across Chelsham, Farleigh and Warlingham.
